19th century plantation chair in solid ebony.
A wonderful example of a 19th century Galle district solid ebony Sri Lankan planters chair, originally caned and retaining the caning holes for future caning, the top rail with carved stylised Prince of Wales feathers, the frame with strongly carved reeded decoration, the scrolled arms terminating in beautifully conceived arm supports, the whole raised on reeded front legs, typical of this period.
