£2,300.00
A minimalist Gabbeh rug from Persia, woven in soft, lustrous wool.
Gabbeh rugs have been woven for centuries by the nomadic peoples of Persia’s Zagros Mountains, and are widely appreciated as highly desireable tribal weavings thanks to their simple, graphic designs and top-quality wool. This striking example, dating to the 1920s, features an especially minimalist design, with a soft grey tone across the central field, framed by an ivory border – owing to the natural, undyed wool used in its construction, all of the colours in this piece have subtle variations in tone, adding a real sense of depth and charm to its otherwise striped back design.
Retained in excellent condition, this rug would make a stylish addition to any setting.
