A fine Veramin carpet, dating to c. 1900, with a rare sky blue field and overall design.
Antique Veramin carpets are widely recognized as among the most exceptional Persian workshop weavings, best known for their remarkable quality, fine crisp drawings and wide variety of rich vegetable-dyed colours. Early Veramin pieces would have been woven by the Shahsavan tribe, who settled in the city of Veramin after migrating from Northwest Persia, bringing with them the characteristic designs that set these carpets apart from those from the neighboring regions.
This example is an exquisite workshop weaving of the early 1900s, with a rare sky blue field. The creative overall pattern is well balanced and complimented by a wide muted tan border. The array of vegetable-dyed colours in its composition have all gracefully aged.
In very good condition for everyday use, still retaining its original borders and short fringes on both sides.
A sophisticated example with a discreet elegance that would make a welcome addition to any interior.
