POA
A large, 19th Century Ziegler Mahal carpet, with a warm terracotta ground and wide decorative border.
This attractive rug belongs to a group of carpets specifically commissioned in west Persia during the late 19th/early 20th century to complement European furnishing tastes. They are unique due to their grand scale drawings, quiet formality and use of soft, understated colours. They are often seen in grand stately homes in Europe and the UK. Antique Mahal carpets work well in modern spaces as they have the aesthetic ability to unite and balance both classic and contemporary design elements.
A charming Ziegler Mahal carpet with a balanced overall drawing. The light terracotta field compliments the array of colour combination including various greens, ivory, light blue and faded yellow, framed by a muted grey-blue border. All the harmonious colours are natural dyed colours which have aged nicely.
This C. 1890 Ziegler Mahal yet has a thin pile but is in good practical condition for every day use. The original plain borders are still present on all sides.
A timeless classic rare in its squarish format to compliment a variety of interior styles.
