Early Heriz Runner
Circa 1910
3.40 x 1.08 metres
Early Heriz carpets from north-west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction, and creative use of vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs and have always stood out for their striking tribal motifs. In our experience, Heriz carpets prove to be among the most versatile decorative weavings, with the ability to unite both modern and traditional design elements in a room.
This charming Early 20th-Century Heriz runner features a bold, graphic medallion motif, creatively repeated across the field in a variety of earthy red ochre, terracotta and tan tones, with accents of sage green and turquoise – a restained palette, set against a rare, complimentary muted blue ground. Being an earlier piece, it boasts a high quality weave, engendering a crisp clarity in its drawing. The central design is framed by a decorative border.
Retained in very good practical condition for everyday use, still retaining its outer borders on all sides.
A charming tribal piece, to add character to any setting.
