From our Accessories collection, we are pleased to offer this Alfred Dunhill Half-Giant Aquarium Table Lighter dating to the mid twentieth century, circa 1950.
The table lighter features a silver plated mechanism mounted above a solid lucite body composed of four inset panels, each hand decorated to create a continuous underwater aquarium scene. The two larger panels depict fish swimming through layered blue water, while the narrower sides show aquatic vegetation and rock formations, giving depth and movement to the composition.
The lifting arm is embossed Dunhill, with further Dunhill markings and the registration number 737418 stamped to the interior of the arm. The weight and scale identify this example as the desirable Half-Giant model, intended for table or desk use rather than pocket carry.
The lighter is in full working order and will require lighter fuel prior to use. A striking and highly collectible example of Dunhill’s mid century novelty production, combining technical precision with decorative design.
