Antique Ewe Kente from the Volta Region of Ghana
This a very fine example of Ewe Kente cloth from the Volta Region of Ghana in West Africa. Woven from hand spun cotton with natural pigments . This textile will date from around 1930 and would be worn solely on ceremonial occasions. The piece would have been owned by a Royal Courtier who would have stood by the right hand of the Chief. The colour combination would indicate the individual was of high status and he was ` the elder of twins` ` Atapayin`. The piece measures 284cm x 201cm and is in fine condition . This piece would make a fine dinning table cover or a stunning statement piece hanging in any room. Price £2,800
