Nick Jones specialises in 18th to 20th century furniture, mirrors, lighting & accessories.
How did you get into collecting Antiques?
“I’ve been an antiques dealer for about 30 years. I started dealing in Art Deco ceramics and got bored with that so I moved into 18th – 20th century furniture, lighting and accessories. Mainly French, Spanish and Italian with a little English.”
Is there a theme to your collecting?
“I look for strong bold lines. Nothing fussy. Paired back and a muted colour palette. I enjoy mixing different periods and different aesthetics. It can make an interior more interesting by adding character. But again in a gentle palette so it has a restrained elegance.”
Do you have any tips for a novice antiques buyer?
“I’d suggest you buy what you love because you’re going to live with it. Form and function are key.”
