This Cigar Box Clock attributed to Cartier dates to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.
The case is veneered in Amboyna with a Thuya bound edge. Mounted in the lid is a central clock framed with a silver plated bezel. The dial is finished in a silvered ground with Art Deco numerals and layout.
The interior is fitted as a cigar case and divided into three sections, with the clock winding mechanism housed within the lid.
Cigar box clocks of this type were produced during the early twentieth century, combining practical storage with a functional timepiece and this model is recorded among examples retailed by Cartier during the Art Deco period.
