An Exquisite Pair of Antique Bohemian Uranium Glass Vases
Each Vase Features a Graceful, Baluster-Style Silhouette with a Gently Flared Rim, a Slender Neck, and a Rounded, Bulbous Lower Body Tapering Elegantly to a Stepped Circular Base.
Decorated with hand Enamelling in White and Gold, Forming Stylized Acanthus Leaves, Scrolling Vines and Floral Motifs. The Enamel Work is Delicately Raised, Adding Texture and Dimension to the Surface.
Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for coloration.The normal colour of uranium glass ranges from yellow to green depending on the oxidation state and concentration of the metal ions, although this may be altered by the addition of other elements as glass colorants. Uranium glass also fluoresces bright green under ultraviolet light.
