Salvo Launches Truly Reclaimed Label
Salvo, the UK’s leading organization for sellers of antique and vintage architectural salvage and reclamation, has launched the Truly Reclaimed label.
The label builds on the longstanding Salvo Code, a leading assurance in architectural antiques and reclamation with member businesses that already meet high standards in responsible sourcing. The Salvo Code applies to a business, whereas the Truly Reclaimed label applies to an item for deeper traceability.
The emergence of reclaimed pieces in today’s design trends has driven faked alternatives. Beyond misleading people with pretend eco-friendliness, the issue is the environmental cost, not simply of the new, but the additional cost of making the new look antique and reclaimed.
“Antique and reclaimed materials have always been celebrated for their connection with history, but they are increasingly recognised for the environmental value of reuse. Salvo’s Truly Reclaimed label is designed to provide assurance that an item is genuinely reclaimed, antique, or salvaged, and therefore offers a genuine reduction in carbon emissions,” commented Sara Morel, CEO of Salvo.
Truly Reclaimed certification ensures that a product is genuinely antique or reclaimed rather than just resembling the old. Truly Reclaimed items range from large architectural antiques to salvaged fireplaces, flooring, garden antiques and lighting. In essence, the products will have had a past life and reuse will allow them to have a future life.
Wellbeing is top of mind, not only for ourselves but for the planet. By buying from a growing list of Truly Reclaimed suppliers, you can be sure that you are reusing products with a past.
Look out for Truly Reclaimed labels in shops, hospitality spaces and destinations that have joined the growing movement of environmentally driven design.
