The Story Behind: Coco Chanel and The Leaf Clover – A Good Luck Charm Symbol
The four-leaf clover motif was first used on Chanel jewellery since 1960s and it is Chanel lucky charm emblem. Coco Chanel was a strong believer in the superstitious world and she surrounded herself with lucky charms for good luck. The common clover is usually 3 leafs, and a four leaf clover represents good luck, faith, hope, and love. The Four Leaf Clover became particularly prominent during the 1980s and early 1990s, often appearing with the iconic CC logo.  In 1960s Coco Chanel designed a large four-leaf clover clip-on  earrings. In the 1980s-1990s it became very popular and the clover motif was frequently used in Chanel’s costume jewellery collections during the 1980s and early 1990s, often featuring rich gold-plated metal or resin designs in pieces like brooches and long necklaces.
