Each is dedicated to a prominent person in elaborate calligraphy, framed in complimentary frames.

Eleazer Albin (d. 1741) was a watercolorist with a special interest in natural history. His earliest drawings are in the British Museum. He had the financial support of many socially and scientifically important people of the day. Sir Hans Sloan encouraged his work and Sloan had Albin paint some of the natural history specimens he collected. Albin created these beautifully decorative early 18th Century depictions of moths, caterpillars, butterflies pupae and their habitats for inclusion in ‘A Natural History of Insects’, the earliest work devoted to the depiction of British moths and butterflies.

Each of the beautifully engraved plates is dedicated to a member of English nobility or a person of high rank in early 18th Century English society. Copperplate engraving with original hand colouring. In excellent condition.

Collection of nine 20th Century Swedish engravings of cuckoos.

The Von Wright ducks are by the Finnish artists Magnus von Wright (1805 – 1868) and Wilhelm von Wright (1810 – 1887) who were well known in the 1800s as both artists and ornithologists.

They captured details and colours not previously seen. These colourful chromolithographs were produced around 1920 by the Swedish lithographer A. Bortzells of Stockholm.

These beautiful engravings are presented in complimentary frame.

Collection of nine 18th Century tropical botanical engravings by Georg Dionysius Ehret.

Hand coloured prints depicting local flora of Barbados. Each is dedicated to a prominent person in elaborate calligraphy and accompanied by a rendering of the dedicatee’s coat of arms.

The prints come from a diverse natural history illustrated work by the Reverend Griffith Hughes dated 1750 . Presented in gilt bobbin frames.

Set of six 18th Century beautiful hand coloured copper plate engravings from ‘1770- 1786 Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux’ Paris Imprimerie Royale by Le Comte de Buffon Georges- Louis Marie Leclerc.

The engravings are by Francois Nicholas Martinet (1725-1804) the foremost bird artist of the period, engraver and artist to the French Court.

Presented in bespoke silver gilt frames with tonal mount and UV70 glass.
